About this piece
A mala of natural rudraksha beads, the seeds of the Elaeocarpus tree, strung close together on a thread. The photos show small rounded beads with a ridged, reddish-brown surface, one loop laid flat, a coil, and a model wearing it long.
It is 22.6 inches (57 cm) long and weighs 20 g. The seller calls it genuine and certified and says a certificate comes with it. The seller does not state the number of beads or the mukhi.
How it is used
Rudraksha is traditionally linked with Shiva, and malas are worn or held and counted bead by bead while a mantra is repeated. Many people keep one mala only for japa. The Shiva Purana gives each faced bead its own deity, and our rudraksha guide lists them.
