About this piece
A two mukhi rudraksha has two natural lines. The seller sells this one as a collector grade bead from Nepal, number XXIX of its collector series.
The photos show a rounded, pinkish brown bead with a dark hole and a rough surface, on a purple cloth. The caliper photo reads 22 mm.
How it is used
Rudraksha beads are traditionally strung on a cord or set in a pendant, or kept on a home altar. Many devotees chant a mantra with them. The Shiva Purana (Vidyeshvara Samhita 25, verse 66) calls the two-faced bead Isha, the lord of the devas; the Devi Bhagavata names Ardhanarishvara. Astrologers today pair this bead with the Moon (Chandra); the pairing is a later convention, not a statement of the Purana, and it is the one this site uses in its rudraksha guide and free kundali.
