The Rahu Antardasha within the Rahu Mahadasha is the opening sub-period of the 18-year Rahu period. It lasts about 2 years, 8 months and 12 days, and it is the only antardasha in which the planet rules both levels at once. That doubling is why it is often described as the purest Rahu experience in the whole cycle: no other planet is mixing its flavour into the sub-period.
