How the name is added
The Chaldean table gives A, I, J, Q and Y the value 1, and B, K and R the value 2. C, G, L and S are 3, and D, M and T are 4. E, H, N and X are 5, U, V and W are 6, O and Z are 7, and F and P are 8. No letter is 9. The same table is used by the name number calculator and explained on the Chaldean name number page.
For Sharma Textiles, Sharma is S 3, H 5, A 1, R 2, M 4 and A 1, which makes 16. Textiles is T 4, E 5, X 5, T 4, I 1, L 3, E 5 and S 3, which makes 30. The whole name is 46, and 4 plus 6 is 10, and 1 plus 0 is 1. The number is 1, which belongs to the Sun.
Company words
Names such as Pvt, Ltd, LLP and Inc describe the legal form and not the brand. By default the tool leaves them out, so Sharma Textiles Pvt Ltd gives the same 1 as above. Untick the box to count them: Pvt is 18 and Ltd is 11, so the whole name is 75, which reduces to 12 and then 3, a different number. Teachers differ on which to use, which is a good reminder of how much the result depends on choices of spelling.
How to read the number
Each number belongs to a graha: 1 the Sun, 2 the Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars. The number pages set out the themes. Teachers who read business names use the total to describe the character a name projects, for example the Sun with visibility and leadership, Mercury with communication and trade, or Saturn with steadiness and patience. That is how a brand might be described and it is not a measure of how the business will do.
If you enter a founder’s date of birth, the tool lists how the name total sits beside the founder’s moolank and bhagyank, using the friendly, neutral and less comfortable lists from the number pages. A less comfortable pairing means only that the books suggest balance.
What it cannot tell you
A name number cannot tell you whether a business will earn money, grow or last, and we do not suggest changing a registered name because of a total. A brand name is better chosen for clarity, ease of saying and spelling, and being free to use, which are things a number cannot judge.
