Enter two dates of birth above to compare two people in Vedic numerology. The tool works out each person’s moolank and bhagyank, then reads four pairings in both directions using the friendly, neutral and less comfortable lists printed on the number pages. Names are optional and only label the result.
What is compared
The moolank is the birth number, from the day of the month, and the bhagyank is the destiny number, from every digit of the full date. Both are reduced to a single digit from 1 to 9, and each digit belongs to a graha: 1 the Sun, 2 the Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars. The moolank and bhagyank page shows the working, and the calculator does it for one person.
Four pairings are read: moolank with moolank, bhagyank with bhagyank, and each person’s moolank with the other’s bhagyank. We list the moolank pair first because it describes the everyday self.
How each pairing is read
Every number has three lists: the numbers it treats as friendly, as neutral and as less comfortable. The lists are on each number page and they are not always symmetrical. Number 1 lists 5 as neutral, for instance, while number 5 lists 1 as friendly. That is why the tool reads every pairing from both sides, giving eight readings in all.
A friendly reading is traditionally taken as an easy meeting of temperaments, and a less comfortable one as a pairing where the two people may need to adjust to each other more. When two people share a number, the books read that planet’s themes as shared and emphasised.
The headline
The headline is a plain-words description of the eight readings: mostly easy pairings when six or more are the same number or friendly, several pairings that ask for patience when five or more are less comfortable, and a mixed set otherwise. The tool also gives a count of 3 for the same number, 2 for friendly, 1 for neutral and 0 for less comfortable, out of a possible 24. This count is our own way of summarising the lists and it is not a classical score, so please treat the table beneath it as the real result.
What it cannot tell you
Two numbers cannot say whether two people will be happy together, whether they should marry or whether a business partnership will work. People of every pairing, including the less comfortable ones, have long and good relationships, and the tradition itself says the numbers describe tendencies. The traditional method for marriage in India is horoscope matching, which weighs the Moon’s nakshatra and many other factors, and the free kundali tool is a good place to start with that. If you would like to look at names as well, the name number calculator works from the Chaldean table, and the numerology hub covers the whole section.
Frequently asked questions
↳ How is numerology compatibility calculated?
Each person's moolank and bhagyank are worked out from the date of birth, and the numbers are compared using each number's friendly, neutral and less comfortable lists. The tool reads four pairings from both sides.
↳ Do two people need the same number to be compatible?
No. The tradition describes sharing a number as an emphasis of that planet's themes, and friendly numbers as an easier meeting. A different number can be just as good a match in real life.
↳ What if the result says less comfortable?
It means only that the books suggest more adjustment between those two temperaments. It does not say anything about the success of a relationship, and many people with such pairings are happy together.
↳ Is this the same as kundali matching?
No. Kundali matching compares two birth charts, mainly through the Moon's nakshatra, and is the usual method for marriage in India. Numerology compatibility is a lighter, separate tradition that uses only dates of birth.
↳ Are the dates stored?
No. The names and dates stay in your browser and are not sent to us. The one-time email check, which emails you a 6-digit code, is the only part that uses our server.
