Digits only are used. A country code such as +91 is dropped automatically from a 12-digit Indian number.

Type a mobile number above to find its total in the Vedic numerology scheme. The tool adds every digit, reduces the sum to a single digit from 1 to 9, names the planet that owns that digit, counts how often each digit appears, and shows the working so you can check it by hand. Add your date of birth if you like and it also shows how the total sits beside your moolank and bhagyank.

How the total is worked out

Each digit counts as itself and zero counts as nothing. The digits are added, and if the sum has two digits, those are added again until one remains. The two-digit sum before the last step is called the compound number, and the tool shows it.

For 98765 43210 the digits are 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and 0. They add up to 45, and 4 plus 5 is 9. The total is 9, which belongs to Mars. For 90123 45678 the digits add up to 45 as well, so the total is again 9, because both numbers use every digit once.

A country code is left out. If you type a 12-digit Indian number beginning with 91, or an 11-digit number beginning with 0, the tool drops that prefix and says so. Whether to count a country code is a point on which teachers differ, and leaving it out keeps the total about the number a person actually dials.

Which planet each total belongs to

The Indian scheme gives 1 to the Sun, 2 to the Moon, 3 to Jupiter, 4 to Rahu, 5 to Mercury, 6 to Venus, 7 to Ketu, 8 to Saturn and 9 to Mars. These are the same assignments as on every number page of this site and in the moolank and bhagyank calculator. The Western Pythagorean scheme gives some numbers different rulers, so a page that uses it will not match this one.

How to read the result

Because a mobile number is how people reach you, the tradition treats its total as a comment on the style of everyday communication. A total of 5, for example, is linked with quick and flexible talk, while 7 is linked with a more private, reflective manner. These are themes to think about and not facts about your calls, your work or your luck.

Some teachers also look at the last digit on its own, and some at the most repeated digit. The tool shows both so you can see what each approach says. When two readings disagree, which is common, that is a reminder of how loose the practice is.

If you gave your date of birth, the tool compares the total with your moolank and bhagyank using the friendly, neutral and less comfortable lists printed on the number pages. A less comfortable pairing only means the books suggest more balance. It is not a reason to change a number you are happy with.

What it cannot tell you

A total cannot tell you whether a number is lucky, will bring money or will help your career. It also cannot tell you anything about the person or company the number is registered to. Many people choose a number for ease of remembering, which is a better reason than any total. For the other numerology tools see the name number calculator, the Lo Shu grid calculator and the numerology hub.

Frequently asked questions

↳ How do I calculate the numerology of my mobile number?

Add every digit of the number and, if the total has two digits, add those digits until one is left. The result from 1 to 9 is the mobile number total, and each digit belongs to a graha. The tool does the addition and shows each step.

↳ Should I include the country code?

Teachers differ. This tool leaves out +91 and a leading 0 so that the total reflects the ten digits actually dialled. If you prefer to include it, add its digits to the sum yourself and reduce again.

↳ Is there a lucky mobile number total?

The tradition lists friendly and less comfortable pairings between numbers, but no total is lucky or unlucky in itself. Numerology is a practice for reflection and does not promise luck or money.

↳ Does the tool store my phone number?

No. The sum is made in your browser and the number is never sent to us. The one-time email check, which emails you a 6-digit code, is the only part that reaches our server.

↳ Why does my total differ from another site?

Some sites use the Western Pythagorean system, keep master numbers such as 11 and 22, or count the country code. This tool uses the Indian method, where every total is reduced to 1 to 9 and the country code is left out.
