Purnima Dates 2026 and 2027: Full Moon Vrat Days in Your City

Purnima is the full Moon day, the fifteenth tithi of the bright half of the month. It comes once a month, 12 or 13 times a year, and many families keep a fast, bathe in a river or at home, give to charity and hold the Satyanarayana puja on this day. Each Purnima has a name from its month, such as Pausha Purnima or Kartika Purnima, and some carry their own festivals: Holika Dahan, Guru Purnima and Raksha Bandhan all fall on a Purnima.

The date rule used here for the Purnima vrat is the civil day on which the tithi is in force at Madhyahna, the middle of the day. Some calendars list a second date, the day on which Purnima is in force at sunrise, for the holy bath and giving; where that differs it is usually the day before. The tables show the vrat day and the time the Purnima tithi begins and ends on the local clock, with a note when it starts on the previous day or ends on the next.

Why do cities differ? The full Moon is one instant worldwide, but a civil date is a local thing. A city in Australia is already in the next day when a city in North America reaches the full Moon, and the tithi begins and ends at different clock times. In some months that is enough to change the date by a day.

A calm note: a Purnima observance can be as small as a lamp, a prayer and a quiet look at the Moon. The tables below cover five cities for both years. Every one of the 49 cities has its own page with all Purnimas.
