About this piece
A shallow lamp bowl with a copper-coloured inside and two cobras curved around its rim, standing on a round gold-toned tray. Both the bowl and the tray have a hammered surface., the seller's shop, says the snake design is part of the seller's yoga symbolism, and that the metal is hammered by the traditional method with a twin-metal finish. The page we read gave no measurements. Snakes are also often shown with Shiva, which is why we have filed it here.
How it is used
The seller says it can be lit in a puja room, a meditation space or a living room. A lamp like this is filled with oil and a wick, or with ghee, and the tray catches any drips.
Looking after it
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth.
- Clean spilled oil from the hammered surface soon after.
