About this piece
A handmade brass statue showing a small seated Jain Tirthankara inside a tall carved arch, set on a stepped, openwork base. The arch, canopy and base are worked in fine detail in a gold brass finish.
It is 30.5 cm (12 inch) tall, 20 cm wide and weighs 3.9 kg. The shrine form suits a home shrine shelf or a temple room, and the carving is best seen from the front.
How it is used
Many Jain homes keep a Tirthankara image in a small, clean shrine, with a lamp and a short prayer each morning. A piece with its own arch like this is placed on a shelf or in a home mandir.
Looking after it
