About this piece
This bronze idol shows Budha, the Navagraha linked with Mercury. The seller describes a crowned figure standing on a dais, jewellery and clothing carved in detail, the lower right hand in gyan mudra and a book, sword and shield in the other hands.
The finish in the photos is a pale bronze with carved detail on the face and base. The seller says it is crafted by artisans of South India. It suits a home altar, a study table or a work desk.
How it is used
Wednesday is the weekday traditionally linked with Budha, and green is the colour associated with him. Idols like this are placed on a home altar or a study desk. Many homes recite the planet's mantra in front of the idol.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Avoid harsh polish on the carved details.
