About this piece
A large brass statue of Mahavira Swami, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, seated in the meditation posture with hands resting in the lap. The photos show curled hair, lowered eyes and a smooth, light polished finish, with a plain back.
It is 51 cm (20 inch) tall, 43 cm wide and weighs 31.82 kg. This is a heavy piece for a temple room or a large home shrine, not for a small shelf.
How it is used
Many Jain homes and temples place a Tirthankara image in a clean shrine and begin the day there with a short prayer. An image of this size is usually placed on a firm platform or in a temple room.
