About this piece
This idol shows Mangal, the Navagraha linked with Mars, also called Bhauma, Kuja and Angaraka. The seller describes a crowned, jewelled figure standing on a dais and holding a sword, a shield and a trident, with the fine carving shown on the clothing and ornaments.
The photos show a pale bronze finish and four arms. It suits a home altar, a study desk or an office desk.
How it is used
Tuesday is the weekday traditionally linked with Mangal, and red is the colour associated with him. Idols like this are placed on a home altar or a work desk, and many homes recite the planet's mantra in front of them.
Looking after it
