About this piece
An eight mukhi rudraksha has eight natural lines. The seller sells this one as a collector grade bead from Nepal, number C of its collector series.
The photos show a light, round bead with eight long ridges meeting at a dark centre, on pale yellow cloth. The caliper photo reads 28 mm.
How it is used
Rudraksha beads are traditionally strung on a cord or set in a pendant, or kept on a home altar. Many devotees chant a mantra with them. The Shiva Purana (Vidyeshvara Samhita 25, verse 73) names Vasumurti and Bhairava for the eight-faced bead; the Devi Bhagavata names Vinayaka (Ganesha). Astrologers today pair this bead with Rahu; the pairing is a later convention, not a statement of the Purana, and it is the one this site uses in its rudraksha guide and free kundali.
