How to read Venus’s nakshatra
Read it in three layers, in this order.
The sign sets Venus’s dignity. Venus owns Taurus and Libra, is exalted in Pisces (deepest at 27°, in Revati) and debilitated in Virgo (deepest at 27°, in Chitra). It counts Mercury and Saturn as friends and the Sun and the Moon as enemies, so its comfort in any sign follows that sign’s lord.
The nakshatra lord colours it. Venus rules Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha itself, and works there in its own idiom. In the Sun’s nakshatras it serves a lord that counts Venus an enemy in return; in the Moon’s, a lord that counts Venus neutral, although Venus counts the Moon an enemy.
The pada refines it. Each nakshatra divides into four padas of 3°20’, each falling in a navamsa sign. The navamsa is also the chart classical astrologers read for marriage, so Venus’s navamsa sign carries extra weight here.
