About this piece
This idol shows Shukra Dev, the Navagraha linked with Venus. The seller describes a figure standing on a dais and holding a pot and a book in the left arms and a snake in the right arms, with clothing and jewellery carved in fine detail.
The photos show a four-armed figure in a pale bronze finish. The seller says it is made in a South Indian art form. It suits a home altar or a work or study desk.
How it is used
Friday is the weekday traditionally linked with Shukra. Idols like this are placed on a home altar or a desk, and many homes offer a lamp and flowers in front of the idol.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Avoid harsh polish on the carved details.
