Venus Mahadasha Rahu Antardasha: Meaning, Effects and Timing

The Venus-Rahu antardasha is the fifth sub-period of the Venus Mahadasha and lasts about 3 years, one of the longer stretches in the cycle. It places Rahu, the shadow planet of ambition and appetite, inside Venus’s period of pleasure and enjoyment, and the two have long been described as natural allies in intensity.

People look it up because it often feels like a period of big wants: a bigger life, more glamour, more connections, new places, new technologies. They also look it up because Rahu has a reputation for unpredictability. Both sides are worth understanding calmly.

Parashara does not assign the nodes natural friends or enemies. Many astrologers read Rahu like Saturn, and Ketu like Mars, which means Rahu is often treated as friendly to Venus in practice because Saturn is a friend. This is a convention, not a rule from the source text, and schools differ.
