Venus is love, art, comfort and attraction. Rahu is appetite, curiosity and the pull of the unfamiliar. Rahu has no body, so it takes on the colour of the planet it sits beside, and beside Venus it tends to magnify wanting: more beauty, more experience, more of whatever is new. This page reads the pair calmly, as a tendency and not a verdict.
How the conjunction forms
The rule: Venus and Rahu occupy the same sidereal sign. Rahu is a node, not a body: the point where the Moon’s path crosses the Sun’s. It moves backwards through the zodiac at about 18 months per sign, and Venus runs forwards round the whole zodiac in about a year, so the two meet roughly once a year. Across all births, about one chart in twelve carries the pair.
Ketu is always exactly opposite Rahu, so Ketu sits in the 7th sign from the pair. The same axis is read from the other end in Venus and Ketu. Venus also stays within about 47 degrees of the Sun, so the pair is often found near the Sun.
Rahu as an amplifier
In the friendship tables that include the nodes, Rahu is usually listed as friendly to Venus, Saturn and Mercury, although the books are not uniform on the nodes and teachers differ. The practical reading is that Rahu does not oppose Venus. It enlarges it. A refined Venus becomes more refined and more public; a restless Venus becomes more restless.
This is why the pair has a double reputation. On one side are glamour, charisma, style and success in fields that reward image. On the other are over-wanting, dissatisfaction with what is already in hand and the chase for the next experience. Both belong to the same placement, and what matters is how the person uses them.
Combustion
Nodes are not treated as combust, and Venus is combust within 10 degrees of the Sun on this site’s orb (8 when retrograde). Because Venus is often near the Sun, check the gap: a combust Venus is read by many teachers as less able to give ease in love and comfort, with Rahu adding to the restlessness. Others hold that Venus’s gifts still show. See Sun and Venus and Sun and Rahu if the pair is close to the Sun.
What it points to
Magnetism and image. An eye for style, a strong sense of how things look and the ability to attract attention.
Unconventional love. A partner from a different culture or background, or a way of living a relationship that differs from the family pattern. Tradition describes this as a theme, not a rule.
Foreign and modern tastes. Interest in international travel, new fashion, technology-driven art and the media.
Money. Gains through glamour fields, trade and foreign connections are common themes, as are bursts of spending. Nothing here is a promise, and the 2nd and 11th houses carry the practical detail.
Work. Fashion, film and media, design, beauty, hospitality, luxury goods, advertising, entertainment, e-commerce and international trade.
Shadow side. Chasing novelty in relationships, spending beyond means and mistaking attention for affection. A pause before large purchases or commitments is a practical tool.
Health. Traditional lists connect Venus with the kidneys, skin and hormones, as symbolism and not diagnosis. A doctor is the right guide for any health concern.
Named yogas
There is no widely accepted classical yoga named for Venus and Rahu. A few modern writers use names for related combinations, with differing definitions, and they should be treated with care. What deserves a check is whether Venus is strong on its own: Malavya Yoga asks for Venus in its own or exalted sign in a kendra, and the Pancha Mahapurusha finder tests it. If every planet lies between Rahu and Ketu, the chart may fall under Kaal Sarp Dosha, a separate question.
How the sign changes it
- Taurus and Libra: Venus is in its own sign. Comfort and taste are strong, and Rahu widens the field.
- Pisces: Venus is exalted. Imagination, music and romance are strong, with a tendency to idealise.
- Virgo: Venus is debilitated. Critical or restless about pleasure; check Neecha Bhanga.
- Gemini: schools differ on Rahu’s exaltation, and some place it here instead of Taurus. A quick, sociable and worldly form.
- Scorpio: many teachers call Rahu weak here, though schools differ. Intensity in love is a theme.
- Others: read the sign lord for support.
How the house changes it
- 1st: a striking and stylish presence.
- 2nd: persuasive speech, a taste for fine food and a changing relationship with money.
- 4th: a home that is well furnished or international; Venus is strong by direction here.
- 5th: romance, creativity and children with an unusual turn.
- 7th: partnership with a person from another background, and a high bar for novelty.
- 9th: foreign travel and a modern approach to belief.
- 10th: a public career in a glamour or design field.
- 11th: gains through large networks and new platforms; Rahu is often read as helpful here.
- 3rd and 6th: courage and competition in creative or service fields.
- 8th and 12th: private passions, foreign lands and an inner life that differs from the public face.

Timing
The pair speaks in the Venus (20 years) and Rahu (18 years) mahadashas, and in the antardashas inside each other: Venus and Rahu and Rahu and Venus. The 2026 to 2028 node transit is a background timing, covered in Rahu and Ketu transit 2026 to 2028.
What helps
A pause of a day before large purchases, one relationship or craft pursued in depth, and honesty about what you actually want. Any devotional practice is a personal choice and not a requirement.
Checking it in your chart
- Find the sidereal signs of Venus and Rahu. If they match, the pair is present.

The planet position calculator gives the sign and degree of Venus and Rahu. The other pairs are in the conjunction library.
Frequently asked questions
↳ What does Venus and Rahu together mean?
It describes a magnetic, image-aware and unconventional approach to love, taste and money. It is a tendency, and its weight depends on Venus's strength, the sign, the house and the rest of the chart.
↳ Is it bad for marriage?
No fixed rule says so. The pair is read for an unconventional partner or a restless search, and the 7th house, its lord and Jupiter matter more for the full picture.
↳ Does it give fame or glamour?
Many teachers link it with success in media, fashion and design, because Rahu amplifies Venus's appeal. It is a theme and not a promise, and the 10th house decides how it shows.
↳ Is Venus weaker with Rahu?
Rahu amplifies more than it weakens, and the books differ on the nodes. A Venus that is combust or in a poor sign is more easily unsettled, and a strong Venus uses Rahu's energy well.
↳ What helps this pair?
A pause before big purchases, depth in one pursuit and honesty about what you want. A thoughtful mentor or partner who values stability also helps.
